Eco-Friendly Improvements at the Motel:

We have been a member of the "GREEN" Hotels Association for over 5 years.

We use compact fluorescent lighting in all our Guest rooms and also our outside flood lights.

We use a renewable heat source (wood) for the main heat at the motel and to also heat the hot water, instead of fossil fuels/natural gas. Natural gas usage is measured in CCF'S. We use less than of 1% of the natural gas in comparison to the average commercial user.

There is printed literature in rooms describing the initiatives of our programs promoting water conservation/recycling and we invite guests to join our effort.

Recycling containers are in all our guest rooms to collect newspaper, mixed paper, magazines, plastic, glass, and cans.

To help conserve electricity, we use timers for our outside lighting.

Water savers that are designed to save water with each flush, have been installed in all the toilet tanks.

We have installed low flow shower heads and faucets in all the bathrooms.

We have been and are committed to purchasing only Energy Star related appliances.

We purchased and use front loading washers/dryers that use 68% less water and 67% less electricity.

Guests are given a choice to reuse bath towels and sheets, instead of changing daily. We have cards in the rooms which explain the savings of reusing linens.

Signs near room exits suggest switching off all lights, TVs, and air conditioners to help conserve electricity.

A UV light disinfection system is used to treat our spring water instead of chemicals (chlorine) for portable water.

We use a composter for food scraps and use the end product on a garden.

We have also replaced some of the lawn with more landscaped areas, which is less lawn to mow and trim which in turn uses less gas and oil.
